We always knew that we have some exceptional players on the soccer field but the U11 Girls North Red team proved how amazing our players are off the field as well. The team spent a very special day volunteering their time to help some special athletes at the Special Olympics soccer tournament on April 11th. Their proud coach Spirit Rodriquez recaps the day:

"I wanted to pass on something that my team did this past weekend that was very special. As a coach you feel this sense of accomplishment from your team when they win a big Championship game or have won a big game. Well yesterday, April 11th my girls spent the whole day volunteering their time at a Special Olympics soccer tournament. I never have felt so proud of them for what they did and how hard they worked as I did yesterday. No trophy or Tournament title can match how proud I was as a coach. These girls spent the day with amazing athletes who love the game just like they do. My girls did things from being Linesmen, Field Marshall's, ball girls and at the same time involved in the games shouting words of encouragement.  They will not forget this day. They also were asked to hold a clinic which again was a amazing moment. This event had over 38 teams and 300 Special Olympians. All ages. At the end they got to get a picture with the team that will be going to the World Games this summer. These girls represented our club with such pride and their display of character was over and beyond my expectations. They were their bright yellow practice jerseys so they knew where we were from. What a experience that I know they will remember for a long time. I thought I would share something like this because teaching the game goes beyond playing on the field."
