SYS Coaches

Parents are NOT to be on Players Sidelines
During games, parents are NOT be on the player sidelines. They are to locate themselves on the sideline OPPOSITE the players. This is a Indiana Youth Soccer rule that SYS must enforce. The rule is as follows:

Each team will be allowed three (3) officially, IYS-registered card holders to serve as coaches (Coach, Assistant coach or Manager) for a team.  These will be the only Adults allowed on the bench during a game.  Anyone that is on the bench and is not a card holder on the official roster will be asked to leave the bench area during the game.  This includes family members.

WCSSF Fall High School Division Coed Rules
The rules below have been released by the WCSSF as applicable for Fall U16 competition. U16 is played on a short-sided field (U11/U12) in two 40-minute halves with a 5-minute halftime. Play will follow FIFA rules for the age group with the following exceptions:

  • Goalies may not punt or drop kick the ball.

  • Goal kicks may not travel past midfield in the air. If they do, the restart is a indirect free kick for the other team at the point the ball passed over midfield.

  • Teams must have an equal number of players on the field at the start of play. If a team play down due to lack of players, the other team must also.

  • If one team plays down due to a red card situation, the other team is not obligated to play an equal number of players.

Field Rule Adopted by SYS Board
A new field rule was adopted by the SYS board. Effective immediately, no team may claim an entire field (both goals) for a practice session. A lack of available practice fields made this rule necessary. Any coach that is using an entire field during his or her practice must relinquish half if asked by another coach.
